1980 Schwinn SX-2000 BMX Bicycle

1980 Schwinn SX-2000 BMX Bicycle.

from the 1980 Schwinn catalog….

The Sting, by Schwinn, was the first of a new generation of BMX racing machines. The SX-2000 bi-oval is the second. In terms of frame geometry, the new SX-2000is identical to the incredible Sting—a longer 5-inch head tube reduces the radial load on head bearings and stress at critical head tube joints. The SX-2000 also has ovalized top and down tubes to help spread stresses more evenly and the entire main harp is light 4130 chrome-moly tubing. Equipped with chrome-moly handlebars, quick-change alloy sprocket, anodized aluminum box rims and other competition parts and components, the new SX-2000 will soon be the workhorse on BMX tracks across the country.

Suggested retail in 1980 was 448.00

From the 1980 Schwinn catalog.

Every major BMX magazine has ranked The Sting by Schwinn as the best BMX machine that has ever hit a berm or jump. Ovalized and double-butted 4130 chrome-moly 18 gauge tubing (thicker walls at the ends of the tubes) provides more strength and rigidity in high stress areas; lightweight where strength isn’t as important; a 5-inch head tube to help withstand fork stress and reduce the radial load on head bearings; tapered chrome-moly rear chain stays to reduce weight while maintaining strength; and finished like a jewel. Combined with Team Schwinn components, anodized aluminum box rims, chrome-moly handlebars, Ouri grips, and other first class equipment, the end result is the hottest BMX machine ever . . . and, race proven by the awesome Factory Team Schwinn riders on the 1979 NBA / Schwinn National Tour.

Available in Chrome with Red Trim and Chrome with Blue Trim.

It’s everyones favorite burned palm Nazi “Toht” from the Kenner Raiders of the Lost Ark Action Figure line.

Released in 1982.

From the back of the card it seems like a rather small line of action figures in relation to how popular the movie was.

I guess the German Flying Wing with faceless mechanic figure never made it past the development stage.

Shame.
